Good solid remote control option

Works well with my Heat-N-Glo has fireplace. If yours has a terminal block with a TH and a TH/TP terminal then you’re set for an easy installation. The remote seems durable and has a good heft to it. I’m not sold on the giant “new style” printed on it though. This takes a ton of batteries though, and I’m slightly annoyed I didn’t think about this before as prior, I had remote base with a 120v plug. The remote control takes 2 AAA batteries and the receiver takes 4 AA.I was able to close the fireplace panel and fit this underneath to hide the receiver and the remote still worked fine at a good distance away. Should be obvious but do keep in mind that you’ll need to keep your gas fireplace pilot on. This simply allows you to turn it on or off, and not light the pilot or set the intensity or anything. For the money it’s a decent value as this will give you lots of convenience. However, in 2026, I prefer to just plug in the receiver since I have a power source down there anyway and would have liked an internal usb c charged battery remote.

This review is for the Gas Fireplace Remote Control Kit. You can always trust that my reviews are 100% honest and never, ever influenced. I want to start out by saying that I am absolutely thrilled that I found this product! It is excellent! My wife and I have a gas fireplace, and we used it quite a bit last winter. But it’s always a hassle to have to open the big metal door on the bottom and turn on the switch. It’s especially tough when you go to turn it off, because the door is quite hot. Then sometimes, when are tired and ready for bed, it feels like such a chore to have to go over and turn it off for the night. This amazing control unit solved all of our problems! Last fall, I almost called a local fireplace installer to get a quote on having remote control put on our fireplace, but I was told by a neighbor that it could be kind of expensive. Especially because the installer would be coming from the next city over. So we held off, and just operated our fireplace manually. But recently, I found this item on Amazon. The description mentioned the same type of gas valve that my fireplace has, so I thought I’d give it a try. And boy am I glad that I did! This is an absolutely stellar product! It functions flawlessly and reliably! After I received this product from Amazon, I actually had it sitting around the house for about a week because I was actually intimidated by the installation. I thought this might be a difficult project, especially since I don’t know anything about how the fireplace is wired. But I am proud to say that the project that I had been dreading was literally a 10 minute install. And most of that time was to locate batteries in my basement! The instructions that come with the product are extremely clear and easy to follow. All I needed for the installation was a small pair of pliers so that I could pull the existing switch connectors from their plugs. If you’re like me, I know that sounds complicated, but it’s super easy! Once I pulled off the two existing switch wires, I then attached the two new switch wires that come from the receiver of the remote control unit. The plugs pressed on to the connectors very easily. Then I inserted six AA batteries into the receiver, and four AAA batteries into the remote. Then, on the receiver and following the instructions, I threw the big switch that says “off” to the “remote” position. As soon as I did, so, the fireplace started right up! Not believing what I was seeing, I pressed the “off” button, and the fireplace immediately turned off. I did it about three or four more times, and each time it turned on and off, just as it should have, with great accuracy! My 80 year old mother could have installed this! I had psyched myself out, thinking this was going to be such a difficult install, but it only took a few minutes! If you’re a person that already has a remote control gas fireplace, and perhaps your unit has stopped working, this is an excellent replacement! It runs on batteries, but I think the battery life is going to be fantastic because it only gets clicked every so often. In fact, I will probably take the batteries out over the summer when we’re not using the fireplace. I would think one set of battery should last us years! And talk about a great value for the money! I was able to buy this for under $40 and install it within minutes. If I would’ve had the fireplace dealer come out, I’m sure they would’ve charged me hundreds of dollars. This was a very easy do it yourself product! I know there are lots of exclamation marks in this review, but I can’t help it! As I said before, my reviews are always 100% honest, and I have written many very positive reviews for very many products, but this one stands out for its complete excellence. I can’t believe that I can now sit in my recliner and operate my fireplace! If your circumstances are similar to mine, and you don’t think you can install it yourself, believe me. You can! I have nothing negative to say about this product. I might make one small revision to suit our needs. I might buy a small section of doorbell wire so that I can extend the leads in an effort to mount the receiver box a little bit further away from my fireplace, so it’s hidden a little better. But this will be an easy, and optional cosmetic alteration. The wire length that the product is shipped with is fine. You shouldn’t need anything else but batteries for your install. Such a wonderful product!!

Easy to install/use, lots of batteries

We recently discovered that our fireplace had a battery backup pack inside the enclosure, along with plugs for add-on remote. So when I saw this remote, I was excited to find out if we could somehow use it with our existing configuration.I am not very handy when it comes to anything to do with fireplaces, so I asked our fireplace maintenance person to come evaluate whether this could be used with our fireplace and whether there were any concerns about it being inserted inside the enclosure. After finding that there were no concerns, we had it installed and began to test. The installer said the whole process was simple and straightforward.Everything worked fine upon first test, and there was no noticeable gap when powering on or off. However, we have since noticed that response sometimes does not work from where we usually sit (approximately 20 feet from fireplace). We are guessing this is due to where it is tucked inside the fireplace, but it is not consistent and not terribly frequent with non-response, so we have decided it is ok as is (for now). One thing I would like to note is that you will need a total of six batteries ...2 AAA batteries for the remote and 4 AA batteries for the transmitter. From our experience so far, I am betting the batteries will not last very long. I also wonder if the excess heat from the fireplace will cause the transmitter any issues, but so far so good.Overall this is a decent addition (or replacement ) for our Napoleon fireplace and I consider it a decent value as well.

Works great, easy to install

This is a super easy convenient way to add remote capabilities to an older style of gas fireplace or just one that didn't come with the ability by default. You get a remote, mountable remote holder, screws/anchors, and transmitter unit. This does not come with batteries so you will need 4AA and 2AAA for the remote. For this particular model kit you need to ensure your unit is a milli volt valve system. This is easy to connect, only two wires and easy to follow instructions, the wires are terminated with insulated connectors that are made to slide onto a blade style terminal. If your system has a fork style you can change them if you have the tools and knowledge. Note that this is just for an on/off there is no setting for a specific temp. If you wish to turn this off for the summer or something there is an off setting on the reciever this would effectively make it so the remote will not turn on or off until the switch is set back to remote.

Easy DIY replacement kit

My dad's gas fireplaces are nice, but one of them no longer responds to remote commands. This kit is almost a drop-in replacement for the control functionality -- wire it up in place of the old one, and you're back in business. Easy installation; looks like good quality components.

The "New Style" Branded Gas Fireplace Remote caught my eye as I was looking for something that could function as a simple on/off remote for our Gas Fireplace without the need to have to use manual wall switch. I was hoping this could fill that need and was interested in trying this out. This product comes in basic basic packaging with little excess. It was well protected for shipping and mine arrived in good condition. It will require a small amount of installation effort, but I feel it is quite straight foward and not too difficult for a DIYer with basic skills. In addition to the handheld remote and receiver you have a simple wall hanging bracket which you can choose to use or not. This kit will bypass your existing wall switch entirely by placing the receiver module in your Gas Fireplace Valve Control area where pilot and flame level valves are. The wiring is a simple two wire hookup and you will connect your existing two conductor low voltage wiring here. The control box receiver will require 4 "AA" batteries that you supply.I like the beyond simple handheld remote. Its a good size without being too large with easy to use tactile buttons. I tested that functionality and it works as expected. There is a momentary lag between a button press and the receiver actuating the command at the fireplace, but this is how these types of things generally work in my past experience. In the end, I am pleased with this device. It is decent product and it has functioned as described. At the orginally listing price of $52.99, I feel this is reasonable for what you are getting here. Note that if you also require Temperature setting functionality that is not a feature of this particular product. However, if all you want is a reliable simple on/off remote then this is certainly worth considering in my opinion.

Simple, Effective Fireplace Remote, Just Don’t Expect Hand-Holding

This is one of those products that feels like it was designed by engineers who understand fireplaces, not copywriters who understand sentences. The good news, it works. The bad news, you’ll spend more time decoding the listing than installing it.Installation is about as simple as it gets if you’ve ever dealt with a millivolt system. Two wires to TH and TH/TP, drop in the batteries, flip the receiver to remote, and you’re in business. Mine paired instantly, no drama, no ritual sacrifices. Click the remote, fire comes on. Click again, it shuts down. That’s exactly what you want. The sliding battery compartment on the receiver is a small but appreciated touch, no screws, no fighting plastic tabs. Range is solid for a basic on/off setup, and it does exactly what it claims, nothing more, nothing less.Where things go sideways is everything around the product. The instructions read like they were translated twice and then faxed. The compatibility list is a wall of model numbers that feels more like a liability disclaimer than actual guidance. If you don’t already know your fireplace valve type, you’re going to be guessing, and that’s not ideal when gas is involved. Also worth noting, this is strictly for millivolt or 24V systems. If you have a latching solenoid setup, this is a hard no. And the “3 month unlimited warranty” doesn’t exactly inspire long-term confidence.Pros:• Quick, straightforward installation—just connect two terminals and you’re ready.• Reliable on/off control for millivolt gas valve systems—does exactly what it says.• Broad compatibility with many fireplace brands.Cons:• Documentation can be confusing and overly technical.• Limited to millivolt or 24V systems—no latching solenoids.• Short 3-month warranty might feel a bit limited.Bottom line:if you know what you’re buying and your system matches, this is a simple, no-frills remote that gets the job done cleanly. If you’re unsure, do your homework first, because the product won’t hold your hand, and neither will the instructions.

Easy upgrade and works perfectly

I got this remote kit for our gas fireplace mainly for the convenience, and once everything was set up, it works really well. Being able to turn the fireplace on and off from across the room is honestly a nice upgrade, especially on colder evenings when you don’t want to get up.Installation wasn’t exactly the easiest, at least not for my fireplace. It took a little time to figure out the wiring and placement, so I’d say it depends on how your specific setup is. That said, once it was connected properly, it worked right away with no issues. The response from the remote is quick and reliable. The remote itself is simple and lightweight with clear buttons, and I like that it includes a wall mount option so you can keep it somewhere convenient.Overall, even though installation took some patience, the end result was worth it.

Simple, Affordable Fix That Works Exactly as It Should

This remote kit was exactly what I needed to bring my gas fireplace back to life without spending a fortune. Installation was straightforward — just connected the wires to the millivolt valve terminals, added the batteries, and it was ready to go. It paired immediately and started working without any complicated programming. The on/off function is responsive and reliable. I can control the fireplace comfortably from across the room, which makes a huge difference compared to walking over to the wall switch every time. The receiver’s sliding battery cover is a nice touch and makes battery changes easy. For the price, the build quality feels solid and dependable. It doesn’t feel flimsy, and once installed it just does its job quietly and consistently. If you have a compatible millivolt system and want a simple, no-frills remote that restores convenience without overpaying for extra features, this is a great value.

This gas fireplace remote control kit works well as a replacement for various millivolt valve systems. It pairs easily with my fireplace, and the on/off function operates reliably, making it convenient to control the fire without manually adjusting the valve.Installation was straightforward, and the kit feels solid and well-built. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the range could be slightly better — sometimes I need to be closer to the fireplace for optimal response.Overall, it’s a dependable and practical replacement remote kit that restores convenience to controlling your gas fireplace.
