Really nice fireplace remote starter kit and it arrived quickly. Installation was simple and only took a few minutes. The functionality is great since the unit can be mounted on the wall or placed under the fireplace, and it works with most electric fireplaces. This is a remote control and receiver for gas fireplaces. It was priced at $47.69 at the time of this review, which is about the going rate. It's designed to let you turn your fireplace on and off or control it automatically with a temperature setting. It’s a direct replacement that looks and works pretty much the same as the original.I installed it on our gas-Log millivolt fireplace. It works as expected, but there are a few things to mention. If you're placing the receiver in the fireplace cabinet, the wire is a little short, which makes positioning the receiver too close to the heat. The battery compartment on the receiver is hard to open. The sliding cover just wouldn’t open. I installed our receiver in the wall box, which requires removing two long Phillips screws to access. To change batteries, you have to remove the cover plate and these screws every time. A magnetic or snap-off cover plate would be much easier.Functionally, it works well. You can control the fireplace manually or use the thermostat mode to cycle based on room temperature. The remote has a child lock, can display in °C or °F, and updates the reading every three minutes. The blue backlight on the remote is useful at night, and the response is quick and reliable.I do wish it had extra features like a timer or a USB-C charging remote, but for basic use, it gets the job done. The remote and receiver feel like standard OEM hardware, so they fit in and don’t look cheap.Overall, if you have a millivolt gas or compatible fireplace and just need a simple remote with thermostat control, this is a good, affordable, and easy-to-install option.

Using this on my 25+ year old heat n glo fireplace. This was really simple to install down by the valve itself and it fit in the open space with no issues. I can now either use my wall switch or the remote to turn the fireplace flame on. I still have to use my second wall switch to control the fan but I'll try and remedy that with a temperature sensitive switch for the fan. I like that the remote is backlight making it really easy to see. The temperature control seems to be pretty accurate and the remote overall functions well. I like that you can disconnect the wire leads and fit this right in a one gang box and just insert the leads connected to the wall switch. Only other things they could do to make this product better for my type of install is to pair it with some type of control for the fan, provide a two gang outlet cover, and maybe have a stand for the remote to sit in so I could sit it upright on the coffee table. I am very happy with this remote fireplace switch. A great addition to a 25+ year old fireplace.

This kit fit perfectly and came with everything needed for installation - except the white slide switch panel, which we didn’t need. Setup was straightforward, and the receiver connected easily to the TH and TH/TP terminals. Once wired and powered, it paired with the remote instantly.The new remote is a huge improvement: it’s responsive, has a clear backlit display, and feels more reliable than the old one. I like that it uses 4x AA and 2x AAA batteries - same as the original - which are easy to find and replace. The receiver’s battery compartment is also easier to access than some older designs.This kit is a great value for anyone looking to upgrade a vintage gas fireplace, especially if you already have a millivolt valve system. Just make sure to double-check compatibility and follow safety precautions. If you're not familiar with fireplace wiring, I’d recommend hiring a professional to install it properly.

This remote kit will give you all the functionality that the original OEM model did and actually even more features for some If you didn't already have the digital display. Installation takes about 5 minutes and it's literally hooking two spade connectors up Right where the old ones were. The remote comes already synced to the box You just have to put batteries in and hook it up. It works well even from the other side of the room and definitely very happy with it so far. Compared to an OEM replacement this is a great value!

Easy to install and works great without hard wiring a thermostat

This is a good value in a basic fireplace remote for milivolt systems. At $52 when ordered, it's less than half the cost of many others and 1/4 the cost of what the local fireplace store wants. I have a 1990s milivolt direct-vent fireplace we use daily during heating season. I installed a similar remote about a decade ago and have never really liked it; it works, but the remote is confusing to people because it has too many modes and buttons. This one is simpler: there are on/off buttons and a basic thermostat with an adjustable setpoint. At a glance you can see what the buttons do, no instructions needed. It also looks pretty sleek, being white vs the beige of my older unit. The remote comes with a wall bracket if you want to store it as well.Installation was a five minute job, most of that removing the older remote receiver. As with all of these, there are two leads from the receiver that connect to the wires leading to the millivolt valve on your fireplace. Connect those, insert 4xAA batteries, and screw it into place in a wall box. The remote takes 2xAAA batteries and the two pieces paired automatically when powered up.In use this does just what it is supposed to. The range is at least 20 feet, as that's the distance across my living space from the fireplace. The buttons function as expected. The display is clear to read. The unit feels well made. I have no concerns about quality and expect this will last many years. Recommended.

Transmitter and Remote will not communicate.

So in our house we have a gas fireplace (VYGF33PR to be exact), and there was the box for the remote (the black part) but no remote and the batteries had corroded inside. Replacing it with this one could not have been easier. put in batteries, unplug the 2 wires from the old one, plug in the 2 wires from the new one, add batteries to the remote and "Bob's your uncle!" what I wasn't expecting (because I didn't read well enough) was that it also works as a thermostat so you can have it turn on the fire automatically when it gets cold. You can also just hit the on button to turn it on whenever. I like the holster for the remote so you have a place to put it during the summer but you can also grab it and put it by you in your favorite seating area.Yeah, I'd buy this again if I needed to, but don't think I will. Oh and batteries are a mix of AA (4) and AAA (2).

it does work on older system fire place except the remote control do not give exactly the temperature asked i would say a difference of 1-2 degrés the thermostatic box has to be closer to the remote ! it might be the distance that is involved

I really like product, it works as should. My gas fireplace is an older unit and the remote works like it should. I'm very happy with it so far, I'm really liking the thermostat on the remote. Both remote and receiver appear to be of good quality and is very easy to install with only 2 wires to connect, my 10 year old son hooked the receiver up. It was a great buy.

This is well made and very similar to one I used to have at my old house. The price is right and as a vine member I got this free if I had to buy one I would have to buy one with a black face plate, they could improve this by including black and white ones in the kit. I have searched for the black wall plate but cannot find one, I guess I will end up painting this one. Apart from that no other problems.
